Gethsemane

The week is moving along for Jesus, and to the disciples’ surprise He is not growing in power and influence, but seems to be heading in the opposite direction. After a wonderful meal, although even during the meal Jesus said a few troubling things, He leads them to a quiet olive grove called Gethsemane…

Welcome to Take Heart!

Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 ESV) It is true for every moment of our lives, but in these uncertain times we have become uniquely aware of just how true the “trouble” part of His words are. But are we equally convinced of the “overcome” part? The entries to this blog will be an effort at letting the Bible encourage us in our daily lives to take heart - Jesus is our chief leader and has secured for us an eternal inheritance that will neither fade, spoil or perish! I’ll start with a focus on the current days on our religious calendar: Holy Week. This is the week that begins with Palm Sunday, goes through the downward spiral of Jesus’ suffering & humility, and ends with the triumph of the empty tomb. Join me this week to be reminded that we can take heart - Jesus has overcome the world!
